OUR CHURCH
A Baptist church in Montréal since 1952
New Canadian Baptist Church was registered on Oct 15, 1952. Today we are a Slavic community: our services are held in Russian and Ukrainian, and faith in Jesus Christ brings us together.
What we believe
We are an evangelical Baptist church, known in Russian as a church of Evangelical Christians-Baptists (ЕХБ), and hold to classical Baptist doctrine. The Bible is the only authority and the foundation of the church’s spiritual life. We also hold to:
- the Nicene Creed (Niceno-Constantinopolitan)
- the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689
- the Confession of Faith of Christian Baptists, edited by N. V. Odintsov (1928)
The heart of our faith
- The Bible is the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original, the only rule of faith and life.
- There is one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was born of a virgin, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead and will return.
- Salvation is a gift of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ; it cannot be earned by works.
- Baptism is received by faith, at an age of conscious decision, by full immersion in water.
- The Lord’s Supper proclaims the death of Jesus Christ until He comes again.
- The church is the body of Christ, and Jesus Christ is its Head. Each local church is guided by the Word of God and makes its own decisions about church life.
What we are here for
- To confess and glorify the triune God: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
- To proclaim the gospel to people near and far, bring them to Christ and take part in planting new churches.
- To make disciples of Christ and equip them to serve God and others, with special care for the young generation.
- To study and share the Bible: Bible study groups, Sunday school, Christian camps and theological education.
- To be a church family: fellowship, mutual support and serving one another.
